Worship Services Baptism & Communion Children in Worship Wedding Information

Children are important, and here at Oakville Presbyterian we have a commitment to help them learn to worship. Perhaps they will not always understand what is going on or being said, but they can understand that this is a place where they are loved and accepted.

Bringing children to worship may not always be easy but is an essential part of their growth in Christ and their purpose for living. Children learn how to worship by the example set by their parents and their church family. One of the many ways children learn about worship and how to worship is by participating with the congregation Sunday after Sunday.

  • They learn they belong to Christ and are welcome in and are part of His church.
  • They come to know by heart many of the historic and traditional expressions that have enriched the worship of Christians for centuries, such as the Lord's Prayer, the Doxology, etc.
  • They build a treasury of memorable, shared experiences with the Christian community on which they will draw as they grow older.
  • They are enriched by the beauty of music as a human response to God.
  • They hear stories from the Bible read and interpreted and begin to see Christian worship as a place where God speaks to them.
  • They witness the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper as signs and seals of the work God's saving grace in Christ and of their membership in His covenant relationship with His people.
  • They discover their higher calling in the Lord and that they are valued by God and His people.
  • They establish a good habit that will bless their lives and the lives of others forever.
  • They are inspired by God for further service in the coming week.
  • They find meaning and fulfillment in life as they glorify their Creator, Redeemer, and Lord.

Oakville provides quality children's services on Sunday mornings. These services include:

  • Quality childcare for infants through 3 years old in the nursery during Sunday School and Worship.
  • Children's Church after the children's message during the worship service, for children ages 3 through 8.
  • Children's Activitiy Binders are available in the Narthex (entry way). They contain paper, colored pencils. These can be used by the children during worship, and can be returned following the service.

"Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."

Proverbs 22:6
